ONDA LATINX OHIO

In Spanish, “onda” means wave, wavelength, or a general energy and flow. Founded by Paloma Martinez-Cruz with faculty members from The Ohio State University Department of Spanish and Portuguese in 2013, the initiative serves to promote and archive the cultures, aesthetics, and kinetics of Latinas in Ohio. Building on the specificity of Midwestern identity and placemaking, what does it mean to be a “swing state” Latinx? The aim of this blog is to identify, cultivate, and curate different ways that Latinas and Latinxs (a term allied with gender queer identities) come together and make Ohio their creative home.
